The Tennent’s Brewery Tour is one of those classic Glasgow experiences that’s been around forever, but still feels worth doing. We booked it to see what actually goes on behind the scenes at Wellpark, and it turned out to be far more engaging than we expected.
Between the history, the scale of the operation, and a very fresh pint at the end, this one lived up to the hype.
The Experience
The tour itself was brilliant, and a big part of that was down to the tour guide. She really knew her stuff and delivered everything in a way that felt natural and engaging, not scripted or rushed.
You’re taken behind the scenes of the production process, getting a proper look at what it takes to create and distribute Tennent’s Lager at scale. Seeing the working parts of the brewery gave a new appreciation for just how much goes into every pint.
Outside, the grounds are huge and the Tennent’s branding is cleverly placed throughout the site. It’s ideal for photos, especially if you’re into that iconic red T aesthetic.
Once you’ve seen the key parts of the operation, the tour wraps up in the bar. Here, you’re served a pint poured fresh from the copper tanks, which feels like the perfect full stop to the experience.
There’s also the option to try other Tennent’s beers for an additional fee. We went for this and really enjoyed it. Each beer was explained before tasting, which made it feel more like a guided experience rather than just an extra drink.
Good to Know Before You Go
- The tour is guided and paced well, with plenty of time to take everything in
- Great photo opportunities outside the building – the tour guide will let you know when you can take pictures
- You finish in the bar with a freshly poured pint
- Optional tasting add-on available for other Tennent’s beers
- Booking ahead is required
Who We’d Recommend This To
This is a great experience if you enjoy learning how things are made, love a bit of Glasgow history, or just fancy a well-earned pint at the end of it all.
It works equally well for locals and visitors, and would be a solid shout for groups looking for something relaxed but still interesting.
